EMDR

Living with unprocessed trauma?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy treatment that is designed to alleviate distress associated with traumatic memories. Upon completion of treatment with EMDR therapy, the client reports relief from distress, negative beliefs, and physiological arousal. During EMDR therapy the client works through emotionally disturbing material with the use of directed lateral eye movements, hand-tapping, and/or audio stimulation (Shapiro, 1991).

SUPERVISION

Are you committed to excellence and high ethical standards in counseling as a therapist?

I would love to help you become a confident and well-equipped counseling professional. As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Missouri, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Kansas, and a Registered Play Therapist - Supervisor (RPT-S), I provide supervision for those pursuing their clinical licensure or Play Therapy licensure, in diverse settings, via telebehavioral health platforms.

My approach is rooted in a person - centered, relational framework and trauma informed care.

Understanding the influence of practice setting challenges, I provide LPC candidates with a variety of practical strategies and focus on the quality of the relationship the counselor has with the client and any obstacles to empathy and mindfulness. From there, I invite counselors to listen deeply to clients and their stories for implicit strengths, to practice new skills through role-play, and to trust their intuition more fully.
