MY THEORETICAL APPROACH

Hello, I am so glad you are here. My name is Larissa Darter. My approach to therapy is collaborative with the client. I believe that we are all imperfect and yet, worthy of love and acceptance. I strive to focus on your strengths while working with you to resolve current issues that are interfering with your day to day functioning, relationships, or your own personal self in tangible ways. It is my desire to build a comfortable relationship where my clients know they are accepted and affirmed for who they are and the change they are working toward. My hope is to help my clients build happier and more satisfying relationships with others as well as themselves. I am privileged to walk alongside your journey of healing in a safe and secure therapeutic relationship.

Some of my specialties include working with anxiety, depression, trauma, communication, life transitions, women's issues, children, adults, couples and those interested in incorporating their faith.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Missouri, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Kansas, and a Registered Play Therapist - Supervisor (RPT-S). I am a trauma-informed clinician whose sessions are grounded in a person-centered approach and attachment theory. My additional trainings and experience include Basic Training I & II for Eye Movement Desensitization (EMDR), an evidenced based treatment proven effective for trauma. I am also a certified PREPARE/ENRICH facilitator, a relationship inventory, scientifically proven to improve couple relationships.

I am also a certified Life Coach who offers coaching services to those individuals wanting to improve their well-being. This may include various areas: physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, and/or spiritually. Some couples are looking for coaching to sharpen and improve their relationship or to simply check in. Parents may seek coaching services when they are looking for support with parenting strategies, chaotic or stressful lifestyles, or when wanting to work on their parent-child relationships. Coaching is offered across all state lines.

I have spent the last 15  years working in the mental health field in various settings including Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities, university counseling centers, community counseling centers, and private practice both in person and online counseling/teletherapy.

WHO AM I?

I enjoy broadening my worldview, and learning what it means to be human. My passion for therapy stems from my own personal experiences of navigating life through complex relational dynamics and a deep rooted passion in helping others find hope and meaning. I consider it a privilege to be in a line of work that allows me to integrate my passion, calling, and skills while walking alongside individuals in their healing journey.

During my time off you can often spot me spending time with my husband and three small children, crafting, creating, exercising, exploring the great outdoors, or reading.
