About Larissa Darter, Licensed Professional Counselor, Coach, Speaker, & Author
My Approach to Holistic, Christ-Centered Counseling
Hello! I’m Larissa, the owner of Prosper Counseling.
I have always known my purpose and calling was to help others experience true wellness. As a little girl, that dream looked like becoming a nurse or a teacher. But fast forward to college, my Psychology 101 completely captivated me, sparking a lifelong passion for understanding the human mind and brain. My faith is central to who I am, and integrating Christian faith with mental health is a cornerstone of the work I do today.
For the past 20 years, I have dedicated my career entirely to the mental health field. Holding a Bachelor’s in Psychology and an M.A. in Marriage and Family Counseling, I have had the privilege of providing therapy and mental health education to individuals and families and organizations from all walks of life; spanning from local communities here in Missouri, Kansas, and all the way to Uganda, Africa.
My clinical experience is broad and deeply rooted. My first job in the field, was while I was in college, working for a neuropsychologist, where I got first hand experience with understanding the brain. Post college, I worked across diverse settings, including community mental health clinics, church counseling centers, a girls' home, residential facilities for dually diagnosed children and adults, and university counseling for female students. Today, I bring all of that experience into my private practice.
How I Help You Prosper
I specialize in helping women, men, and families move from spiraling to feeling steady, capable, and confident! My goal is to equip you with practical tools and a foundational understanding of how your mind and body work together. By doing this, you are empowered to navigate life prepared and informed, rather than reactive and overwhelmed.
Mental health can feel puzzling when you are stressed, but it is my mission to make healing feel simple, doable, and fully integrated with all parts of who you are, faith included. I believe in a holistic approach that includes all parts of an individual: emotional, mental, physical, social, and spiritual well-being. I also believe the work of mental health doesn’t have to feel intimidating or scary, but rather collaborative and incredibly meaningful…and dare I say, fun?!

Off the clock, favs and quirks:
✦Music Favs: “Hills and Valleys” by Tauren Wells and the old hymn, “Come Thou Fount.” I need daily reminders for chaotic days! I'm also probably dancing to Forrest Frank w/ my kids!
✦Quirks: I prefer paper over tablet. You’ll find a pile of books stacked on my nightstand.
✦Question I ask the most: Have you seen my phone/glasses? They’re always hiding!
✦ My perfect day? Start with happy wildflowers on my table. Caffeinate. No hurry. Comfy pants. Catch the sunrise. Cozy blanket. Birdwatching. Music with vibes. Good book. Get crafty. Bake bread. End with a hike/bike ride!
