FAQs

  • Yes, I am! Please fill out the schedule for or request a free consultation and I will be in touch. If there is a waitlist, I will let you know.

  • Like most specialized providers, Prosper Counseling is an out-of-network provider.

This means you may be eligible for out-of-network benefits if you choose to use insurance for counseling services. Keep in mind, this requires Prosper Counseling to provide a mental health diagnosis that will go on your medical record. For this reason, many choose self-pay as an option to avoid labels, maintain privacy, and have more agency in their mental healthcare.

Below are several options laid out for you in detail. We also discuss what option is best for you in your free consultation, where you can ask any and all questions necessary!

    Payment Policies

    Payment Methods Accepted:

Payment is processed via a secure website using:

    • credit/debit cards

    • FSA/HSA cards

Payment is due at the time of the session.

Using Out of Network Benefits for Therapy

If you have out-of-network benefits, you have two options for navigating the reimbursement process:

You can submit your superbill directly to your insurance company,

Two Ways for Reimbursement using Out of Network Benefits

    1) What is a Superbill?

A superbill is a detailed receipt that includes all the necessary information about the therapy services you received, such as:

    • My professional credentials

    • The date of service

    • The type of therapy provided

    • The duration of the session

    • The total amount paid

You can submit this document to your insurance company to request reimbursement for the services provided.

Questions to Ask Your Insurance Company for Out-of-Network Reimbursement

When contacting your insurance company, here are the key questions you’ll need to ask to help facilitate the reimbursement process:

    1. Do I have out-of-network benefits for therapy?

    2. What is the reimbursement rate for out-of-network therapy services? (This will help you understand what portion of the session cost you can expect to be reimbursed.)

    3. What are the diagnostic codes you require for reimbursement?

    4. Do I need to submit a claim form, or will the superbill suffice?

    5. Are there any limits or restrictions on the number of therapy sessions I can be reimbursed for each year?

    6. Do I need to provide additional documentation, such as a treatment plan or progress notes?

    7. What is the process for submitting out-of-network claims? (Ask about the online or paper submission process.)

    8. Are there any co-pays, deductibles, or out-of-pocket expenses I will need to pay before reimbursement is processed?

    9. How long will it take for the reimbursement to be processed and sent to me?

These questions will ensure you have all the necessary information to submit your claim correctly and understand what to expect in terms of reimbursement.

    What is an Out-of-Network Provider?

An out-of-network provider, like myself, doesn’t have a direct contract with your insurance company. This means I don’t bill them directly, and you pay for the session upfront. I’ll provide you with a superbill, which you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

How Does the Reimbursement Process Work?

    1. Pay for your session at the time of your appointment.

    2. Receive a superbill: After your session, I’ll provide you with the superbill sent to your online portal.

    3. Submit to your insurance: You submit the superbill (along with any claim forms, if necessary) to your insurance company.

    4. Get reimbursed: If your insurance plan covers out-of-network services, they will review the claim and reimburse you for a portion of the session cost.

  • Nope! In fact, I see many clients who do not wish to incorporate their faith. For some, faith is deeply personal or private, and they wish to not have it integrated.

Some clients desire talking about their faith and spirituality in counseling. Others want to be informed about their counselor’s background, worldview, and belief system. It can help put clients at ease, create alignment, and understanding in the therapeutic relationship. We can discuss any questions you have about this in the free consultation!

Either way, you decide! Indicate your preferences on the initial intake paperwork. At the first appointment we will discuss your preferences and needs. My job is to be collaborative with you in a way that meets your needs. I do not promote an agenda, I meet you where you are at, on your spiritual faith journey.

Keep in mind I am not a pastor or theologian. My job is not to tell you how to think or to tell you what God is telling you to do. I also do not try to convert your faith–that’s not the purpose of therapy or coaching. My job is to help you be attuned to your own personal awareness, insights, and bodily sensations, as well as incorporate a biblical worldview, if you choose to do so in therapy.

  • For the time being, all my services are provided online via telehealth. Research has found it to be just as effective as in person! This is one of the amazing benefits we have in technology. It is a flexible and convenient way to prioritize your mental health. There is no commute or lengthy waiting room times. You don’t have to stress over childcare. It is a great option for someone who is seeking a counselor outside of their metropolitan area. All you need is somewhere that is safe, private, and has a good wi-fi connection!

In person IS AVAILABLE for speaking engagements, training, and groups, as well as virtual.

  • At this time the practice focuses on ages 18+. I do work with parents on parenting strategies. If you’re not sure what you’re needing or looking for, let’s talk! Fill out the consult form.‍ ‍

On some occasions, I see clients 18 years and younger. If you’d like to see if your situation is a good fit, please schedule a free consultation.

  • Individual sessions are 45 minutes. Couples sessions are 60 minutes. Intensives are usually 2-3 hours long, and can be up to 6 hours in one day. Length is determined case by case on individual needs through a free consultation.

Some clients work with me and later go on to decide to do an intensive too. This is also available and discussed together whether or not this would be appropriate or beneficial for you.

Weekly sessions are highly encouraged for the first 4-6 weeks of therapy. If you are only able to commit to every-other week to start, this can be discussed in the initial consultation call. Frequency of meeting less than every-other-week is not offered at this time.

  • The duration of therapy and the timeline for progress vary depending on individual needs and goals.

Typically, clients may start to experience some improvements within the first few sessions as they begin to gain insights and develop coping strategies. Most clients complete their treatment goal needs in 4-10 sessions with me.

However, significant progress often occurs in consistent therapy. Often times, clients enjoy the work or discover they have other areas they wish to work on and decide to continue working together.

We consistently review your treatment plan goals together to assess your progress and completion of desired outcomes. You can choose to continue therapy or terminate therapy at any point.

  • Rare circumstances may arise where I must breach confidentiality, such as if there is an imminent risk of harm to yourself or others, or if there are suspicions of child, elder (aged 60+), or vulnerable adult abuse or neglect.

Additionally, confidentiality may be breached in specific legal situations.
